The annual HMC Masterclass took place this afternoon on February 25, 2018. This season, we were fortunate to have the very talented, uniquely funny, and remarkably passionate Joseph Johnson join us as our Masterclass coach. Joseph Johnson has been heard throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician and educator. He is the current Principal Cello of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2009. Each season, the HMC hosts one Masterclass and the invited coaches cycle through winds, piano, and strings specialists. For more information on attend or participate, please contact us! Our afternoon musical journey showcased 4 groups presenting the works of Brahms, Röntgen, and Schumann. Please refer to our Concerts page for full programme details. Each group presented one movement of their selected work in full and then had the opportunity to work closely with Joseph Johnson on the movement. It was a very rewarding experience, as expressed by all parties, and Joseph Johnson was lauded continuously for his passion for education and his ability to work with the participants on all levels of performance!
